Just Ducky

So Mommy was outside doing yard work one day in preparation for my birthday party. She had started trimming some old brown tall grass with a pair of big hedge scissors, and as the tip of the scissors reached far into the grass, she noticed a mama duck sitting on her babies. Her coloring blended in so well that the blades were a mere inch or two from her beak. Though it scared the you-know-what out of Mommy when she saw those eyes looking back at her, the mama duck didn't budge. The nest was outside my bedroom window and we were able to watch the mama duck come and go daily with food for her little ones. Unfortunately, we don't know how many babies there were since we missed seeing their maiden voyage to the pond down the street. Hopefully the parents will return to their nest here next year too!

Buh-Bye!

My favorite thing to do right now is say bye-bye. Since I'm not saying much of anything else yet, I make up for it by saying bye-bye with great gusto! When I'm leaving a room that Mommy or Daddy is in, I say it repeatedly and get louder the farther away I get. Sometimes I'll just open and close a door again and again so that I have an excuse! I wave and say it to nearly everyone I see when we are out...in restaurants, in grocery stores, you name it! Mommy calls it my "grand exit" and she says I make a lot of people smile! Since the world can always use some more cheer, I think I'll keep doing it.

Can You Hear Me Now?

Ever wonder what the "electronic age" is? I'd say it's about 2.

This is Daddy's cell phone and usually he is talking to me on it, but as you can see I've momentarily confiscated it. He always calls me when he is on his way home from work and I love being able to talk on a real phone! My toy phone is a lot of fun but the real thing is SO much better! I've even started making a huge commotion whenever Mommy is on the phone. It doesn't matter who she's talking to, I just want my turn! So if you ever call us, plan on a few extra minutes to talk to me too!
