Walt Disney World - Day 1

After patiently counting down for 100 days on my Disney World chain, the day finally arrived! We got up at 4:30 in the morning to get to the airport, and I flew on an airplane for the very first time! Unfortunately it was in the dark, but it was still awesome! The whole time we were on board but waiting to take off (which everyone knows takes FOREVER), I kept asking "Are we flying yet? Are we flying yet? Are we flying yet? Mommy was concerned that the cabin pressure might hurt my ears, but I was having such a good time that I didn't even notice! When we arrived at the Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World, everyone got a lei and an Aloha!

This is the view of the Magic Kingdom from our room. In the center is Space Mountain (which I was too short for, Daddy was too chicken for, and Mommy just didn't have time for). On the left is Cinderella Castle, but you could see it much better in person (remember that you can click the picture for a larger image). The ferry you see went back and forth all day long while occassionally honking the horn. It led to a little phrase I said all week, which was "be quiet loud boat!"

Here we are, Main Street USA! See that button peeking out from under my t-shirt? It says "My First Disney Trip" and it would sure get us some neat surprises later on!

The very first show we went to was "Storytime with Belle" in a little outdoor garden theater. The lady you see behind me was walking around chatting with the audience before the show and she asked my name and where I was from. When the show started, Belle said that she was going to tell the story about her and "The Beast" and she needed people to play the other characters and wear the costumes that were in the trunk. Well, the other lady came back over to me and asked if I would play Belle's father, the inventor. Not having any idea what that really meant, Mommy and Daddy encouraged me to go. She put the tool apron on me as Belle began the story, and ever so slowly I realized that I was in front of about a hundred people. The tears started to well up but I didn't move a muscle or even make a sound. Belle noticed and asked if I wanted to go back to my seat...oh yea, get me outta here! Whew, that was close! End of episode one with that darn button!

OK, forget the characters for now, it's time for a little fun. The first ride we went on was the Mad Tea Party. We all got to sit in the same teacup and Daddy spun it around like crazy. I TOTALLY loved it! I wanted to ride it again on subsequent days, but it closed down for refurbishment. It sure is a good thing we rode it when we did!

I'm not smiling in this shot, but I went nuts over this ride too. It's the Indy Speedway race cars! Daddy had to do the accelerator since I couldn't reach it, but I got to do all the steering! This would end up being my favorite ride throughout the whole trip, and we did it three times!

Here he is, the main mouse himself...Mickey! The big afternoon parade was where I saw all the characters for the first time. The music was REALLY loud though so I spent most of it with my hands over my ears.

And it's Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio, and Jepetto!

The evening parade was part of "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party". All the characters where there again, but this time they were in their holiday best. Awww, Daisy Duck is blowing me kisses! Well, who could blame her?

It's Cinderella and Prince Charming in their carriage! Doesn't the castle look cool with all the "icicles" hanging off of it? (Ha ha, pun intended!) It was like that every night we were there, and the pictures really don't do it justice.

Look, it's Goofy driving a candy train!

This show was called "Mickey's T'was the Night Before Christmas", and it was pretty loud too. But don't Mickey's pajamas look comfy?

Wow, what a great first day at Disney World!
