My New Big-Boy Bed

Finally, no more crib for me...check out my new bed! My folks were able to stretch out my time in the crib thanks to a video monitor that allows them to spy on me. (Don't get me started on how rude THAT is!) It was time to make the switch though and now I've got these cool new sleeping digs! I was a little hesitant the first night, but I did fine and the next day I played on my new bed all day! Grandpa Chip gave me Cars bedding for my birthday - my pillowcase has Lightning McQueen on one side and Mater on the other, but Mater is definitely my favorite so it's always gotta be that side up. Of course, with all my stuffed animals covering it, you can't even tell that it's Cars bedding in this picture! Now that I am potty trained, it didn't take me long to figure out that I could use that as an excuse to get up when I should be napping. I'm sure I'll come up with others soon. Looks comfy, don't ya think?

My Birthday Parties

Finally, here are the pictures from my birthday parties this year!

My first party was with my friends. Mommy had her hands full doing this all by herself since Daddy was away in Africa, so the pictures aren't that great! We started off by making individual pizzas with English muffins, pizza sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese. Anna took the prize for the most cheese piled on! While they were in the oven, we made these spiders out of crackers, peanut butter, pretzel sticks, and raisins. (If you click the picture to enlarge it, the best shot is on the plate near the peanut butter jar.)
After all of that food was gobbled up, we got to decorate our own cupcakes that Mommy baked in ice cream cones! Then it was on to presents...I got some really nice stuff, like a ring toss, golf club, Chuck E. Cheese tokens, and a Bob the Builder set! I've got great friends and we had a really fun time!

When Daddy finally got home from his REALLY LONG trip, he brought me some cool stuff. This is a traditional African shirt, which unfortunately didn't come in a smaller size. Oh well, I'm growing every day! He also brought me a soccer uniform from the Cameroon team...again, a bit too big. I got the most fun out of a set of Delta airport vehicles, like an airplane, a luggage carrier, a food service truck, etc. Boy were they a hit! But the best present by far was, of course, having Daddy home!

This is the family party, and here I am showing off my building expertise in the form of Lowe's and Home Depot kids' projects. Among others, I'm very proud of my roller coaster car, fire engine, biplane, and coin bank which Great-Grandpa DL was kind enough to contribute to!
We had more than just my birthday to celebrate this year. It was also Uncle Danny's high school graduation, Grandma Elaine's birthday, Daddy's return from Africa, and Father's Day! All the dads and grandpas got a picture of me in a frame that I made at Lowes. Of course, once Grandpa Chip opened his, I had to inspect it to make sure it was perfect. Although, it IS a picture of me so how could it not be?

Uncle Danny's girlfriend Theresa helped me unwrap all my presents. (I'd like to think of her has MY girlfriend though, but don't tell anyone!) I got some awesome presents this year...like a motorized Kawasaki car, the movie and bedding from "Cars", a bunch of underwear for my newly-trained behind, a very cool locust bug, lots of chalk for the driveway, a stuffed Mickey Mouse, and lots of other neat stuff! Thanks everyone!

Not only were there birthday presents to open, but also belated Christmas presents too! Here I am with Uncle Karl's girlfriend Cindi. Little did we all know that Karl had a present of his own for that bare third finger of hers just a week later! Woo hoo, I'm gonna have an Aunt!!!!
And finally, here is my new "cousin" Oliver. He was just a few weeks old at the time of the party and did we ever have fun together! I can't wait to see him again. Can't you just tell that he belongs with someone like Karl?

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'M POTTY TRAINED!!!!!!
Mommy and I stayed home for the weekend and took care of this pesky little issue. She had me wear only underwear and asked me ALOT if I needed to go potty. In the end (yes, pun intended!) all it took was a couple of very wet accidents for me to get the point. Good thing Grandma Elaine loaned us a carpet shampooer! I'm so excited about this development that I can be seen running into the bathroom all by myself quite frequently now. I kinda like walking out of there with my shorts around my ankles and the family jewels exposed, but Mommy says I really shouldn't do that. I tell ya, she's just no fun.

Happy Birthday to Me - I'm "FREE"

Er, I'm three. (I'm still working on that "th" combination.) Look at what a big boy I am now...I'm 35 pounds and 39 1/2 inches tall. That means that I'm bigger than 90% of other kids my age, and let me tell ya, our playgroup is proof of that! I tower over all of them by at least a whole inch! Mommy found a website that will estimate a child's adult height based on their current height and the heights of the parents, and it figured me to be 6"2'. Holy cow, look out ladies!
Now, to update everyone on my current projects: I've casually been potty training for the last six months, but Mommy says today is the day to start taking it seriously. I really like my diapers, but I feel confident that I'm ready to handle the full transition now. With my trusty Bob the Builder, Thomas the Train, and Cars underwear to help me out, how can I go wrong? My speech is coming along nicely too. I've still got some pronunciation issues, but overall I have improved by leaps and bounds. I've even become quite the chatterbox! My favorite thing at the moment is to repeatedly ask Mommy and Daddy what they are doing, even though I already know. For instance, in the time it took Mommy to put sunscreen on me the other day, I think I asked her a dozen times. I get such a kick out of irritating her! She says she doesn't mind most of the time, but now that the "terrible threes" are officially here, it sure sounds like a challenge to me!
